Charity and Community
Christmas Jumper Day - Friday 15th December raised £88 in aid of Save the Children
Company at Christmas & Christian Aid
'Company at Christmas' is a Churches Together charity that helps to ensure people who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day have company - tea, entertainment and lunch.
Christian Aid's current campaign is linked to not wasting as much food this Christmas as we may do usually. It is about being aware that there are people with very little around the world and trying not to use so many resources or waste resources in our lives.
We raised £246.90 - thank you very much for your generosity.
Well done Everyone - we raised £223.30 for Children in Need!
Thanks for your donations and for taking part by 'spotifying' your uniform!
Quiz for Nabikabala - Well Done to the Year 6 Fundraising Team!
On Wednesday 29th November, the Year 6 Fundraising Committee ran a quiz to raise funds towards the completion of the roof at our link school in Uganda. Children across Key Stage Two gathered in teams to battle it out on a range of questions and subjects. Thank you to those people who make cakes for interval refreshments and donated prizes for the raffle.
We would like to support Bishop’s Stortford Foodbank again this Advent. Celebrate the countdown to Christmas by putting an item of food/toiletries in our special box for each week of Advent. Christmas is a time for giving and you will be giving two special gifts – food and the knowledge that someone cares.
As there are only two full weeks of school during Advent we are collecting from Monday 27th November, the week before the start of Advent. The collecting boxes are in the Entrance Area under the Advent display.
Donations particularly welcome:
Tins of ham, spam, corned beef
Sugar (small bags)
Tinned Sponge Pudding
Harvest Boxes Delivered- see thank you letter below...
"Harvest Collection 2017 - Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank
To the staff and pupils at St Michael’s CE Primary School
On behalf of everyone at Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at your school for supporting the Harvest Appeal 2017.
Your generous donations have been sorted and categorised, and they are now in our storage facilities awaiting distribution. Please be assured that your harvest donations make a very real difference to the people living in crisis in the local area.
Thank you for making arrangements for this year’s collection to be delivered to the Food Bank in Bishop’s Stortford – we really appreciate your help in this aspect of the Harvest Appeal, because we have so few volunteers available to collect from schools directly.
Best wishes to you all and thank you for working in partnership with our charity. Perhaps you might consider partnering with us again in the future. Every year, we have to raise approximately £10,000 in order to run the Food Bank. If any of you would like to take part in further charitable fundraising projects, we would love to hear from you. Perhaps you might consider ‘adopting’ us as your Charity Of The Year in 2018. Please contact Jane Towns if you would like to discuss this further (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Kind regards to you all and thank you once again for your support of the Food Bank at Harvest 2017.
