Inspiring and Empowering People
On behalf of the whole school community I am delighted to welcome you to St. Michael's Primary School- making a difference since 1818.
At our school we strive to provide an inspiring, supportive and aspirational environment built on Christian values. We want our children to have an equal chance to become happy, responsible, highly skilled individuals who can contribute positively to and shape the world they live in.
We believe passionately in the importance of a broad, engaging curriculum and learning outside the classroom.
We have worked hard to create a learning, growth mind set culture that expects the whole school community to challenge themselves, take risks and be innovative.
Please do visit the school if you want to find out more. If you are a prospective parent we look forward to a happy association with you and your children.

Prayer Space - 'Cardboard Home'
Come and have a look at our Cardboard Home Prayer Space in the school entrance.
We are thinking about Justice this half term and are encouraging our whole school community to offer thoughts and prayers for others who may not be as fortunate as us - in particular here, children who live on the streets around the world.
We invite you to contribute prayers or your thoughts that we will stick all around the box for others to contemplate and reflect on. If you would like one of our footprint templates to write onto, please pick one up from the front entrance (you don't have to ask the office as they will be photocopied by the hatch).
There is also a Cardboard Home Prayer Space in the KS1 area.
Learning to be an effective global citizen - some of the prayers that have appeared on the box so far...
We are really fortunate to have speakers of over 17 different languages at our school!
We use Google Translate to help us understand different languages in the classroom. Here is the link, so you can try it yourself:
Families First Portal
This is a directory of organisations, services and groups in Hertfordshire that can help you with problems you or your family may be facing, before things might get worse. This is known as 'Early Help'.
You may not want or need to ask for help from a professional and there's lots of support you can find yourself by looking on the portal.
Information about School Closures
Hertfordshire have a new Schools Closure Notification System. All parents will need to sign up to this system to ensure that in the event of school having to close (which is very rare!), we can get the message out quickly to our families. This will replace any previous similar notification systems.
Registration is very simple, just click on the link below and go to ‘sign up’.
You will need to click on ‘sign up’ on the right hand side of the page, at the top. From there, follow the instructions given. It should take no more than 5 minutes to register and you can edit your information at any time should you change your mobile number or email address.
Our school is currently working towards being GDPR compliant.
